Work Space: If you face a space where a colleague steals your idea…
Be proud it was an idea worth stealing! But also, consider wether there was any malicious intent. When this happened to me recently, rather than take this as a slight against me, I chose to see the behavior as an actioning of my idea. The end result is what was important, not who said it.
Dad Space: If you face a space where your kids only want pizza for dinner…
Acknowledge the awesomeness of pizza. Then, when you start to think about their nutritional needs, remember how much easier it is to order Doordash than whip up a meal the kids will actually eat. Last week my kids wanted pizza 48 hours after we’d already had it (I’d caved). I thought it was funny when I got their hopes up and then crushed them when I served them chicken and broccoli. Sometimes it’s ok to disappoint your kids—especially when you can laugh with them in the process. (My kids find this comic hilarious!)
Write Space: If you face a space where you can’t find time to write (or build your dream)…
First, give yourself a break. Men: we too often shit on ourselves for a lack of results or showing up. Remember that sometimes decompression and disconnection is an active way of pursuing your dream, even if it doesn’t seem like it in the moment. Lately, my time to write has been consistently inconsistent. Do I find there are evenings where I’m watching too much Netflix or YouTube when I could be writing? Yes. Are there times where I’m hungover just enough that getting up early on a Sunday isn’t in the cards? Also yes. But…it’s not my fault! If only work and the kids…well, forget it.
…I think I’ll order pizza tonight.
I love the cartoons, the newsletter and how your tied them all together.
